Delicious. Driving from Philly to Davenport to Laramie to Baker City to Portland, we stopped off at a hotel and ordered from here for delivery. Firstly, you get a free app if you check in with Yelp, with is awesome. Secondly, food is really quite good. We got the Broccoli Chicken, Kung Pao Tofu, and crab puffs. Tofu has a kick to it, which is surprising. Normally when restaurants say hot, they mean barely noticeable spice. Chicken was really flavorful and delicious, and crab puffs were seriously awesome., Also the woman who delivered was very quick, and she was super friendly.

I can't vouch for the food but the sunset lounge was a welcomed surprise for a nightcap with the crew on a late night hotel stop en route to Boise. 5 stars for a good bar when everything else in town was dead.

GROSS EXPERIENCE -DON'T EAT THE FOOD! and BAD CSR!!! I have enjoyed the food, service, and fun at Rising Sun AKA Fong's for over 20 years but today after finding a dried up piece of a foreign object - possibly HARD GRASS? OR WOOD? OLD FINGER NAIL?, in my soup -ICK- ! While eating it! Super icky!! Not going back ever! We ordered our two faves a large Hot 'n' Sour soup and Kung Pao chicken. Nothing Kung or "Pow" about the chicken it was more sweet than hot and no peanuts on top, in the middle, bottom, or the sides. Back to the MAIN GROSS issue: When I went back for seconds using my large soup mug, which holds about 1.5 cups, I almost crunched down on this thing that first glance looked like a finger nail? Yuck! We took everything back and I put the GROSS thing in a plastic bag. First the owner/manager said something to the effect he has his DNA on file and can prove it is not his finger nail. Why would that be your first response to a foreign object that we thought at first might be a finger nail. What is is this CSI over soup? It was agreed it was grass either way the GRASS/FOREIGN OBJECT in my SOUP CAME FROM RISING SUN PALACE. We asked for to make it right or a for refund but he refused because ate half the soup. If he would have listened to us I didn't discover the GRASS/FOREIGN OBJECT in my soup until my SECOND cup which is about 1/2 to 3/4 of the soup that was ordered. Sometime between going back and forth about the grass/dirt/finger nail/whatever it is- that he said wasn't from his restaurant he got a phone call and just walked away from us. He did state during the back and forth - "it's not about the $$ it's about the principle" . So here is our PRINCIPLE to let people know about our BAD experience today. I have worked in CSR for over 25 years and WOW! I would have been so fired!! If the conversation had taken a different turn in stating he was sorry that the "grass/dirt/foreign object" that was found in my soup from his restaurant and for any inconvenience that this may have caused us vs. FIGHTING with us from the get go. This post would not be here or it could have been a positive post if things had been handled professionally.

Best handmade potstickers this side of the Pacific! Sunset Lounge rocks at night and is the local hangout spot. Philip was a great host! Gina and Don ran the bar with a quick courtesy and professionalism you sometimes forget to expect from your bartender. Its a great mix of locals and road trippers. I broke down in Baker City and am so glad I found this place! I would go out of my way to make it back here again. Great restaurant cool bar! Who could ask for more?

Along my drive from Texas to Washington- carsick, hungry and exhausted- I pulled into Baker City around midnight. I got even sicker when i saw the golden arches and worried that this may be my only option. I drove around a bit and fortunately stumbled on Huang's. The bar was open and they were still serving food which I was very pleased to hear. I sat at the bar next to a group of giggling women and scanned the menu for something to eat. I ordered the Kung Pao. As I waited I sat listening to a woman and man with a guitar sitting on the stage playing "A Horse With No Name." They sounded pretty good. It was a decent environment. I'm no frequent to the area, but I was impressed with the place for such a small town. In spite of this, the food was not all that good. It wasn't bad, but it was- in my opinion- cheap chinese. That and I just don't like celery in my chinese food- it really distracts from other flavors... just my opinion. But would I have preferred McDs? No way! Huangs prices seemed reasonable and the staff were friendly. As much as I was happy to see a non-chain food place open late in a small town, and although this is one of 2 chinese restaurants in Baker City, I still rate it only a 2, due to my comparison to other chinese places I've been to. But for Baker City- who knows- this place probably rocks! Would I go again if I was in Baker City? I'd say I'm somewhere in between maybe and probably.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
